Several cars of a train derailed early Saturday morning 20 miles northwest of Quincy, California, according to the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies received the report early Saturday morning.
Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads reported the derailment in the Feather River Canyon, near the Twain community.
Deputies arrived and spoke with railroad representatives, who said 13 of the 74 cars in the train had derailed, but remained upright.
No injuries were reported in the statement.
Sheriff's office officials surveyed the scene and did not see any hazardous conditions.
In addition, railroad personnel followed all legally-required procedures.
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation, though the sheriff's office does not suspect foul play.
