6/8/2017 - Portola Fire Tax Increase Rejected by Voters - Click here to print this information

Yesterday, Portola voters rejected the proposed fire tax with a vote of 269 to 146.

The tax would have helped to fund the Portola Volunteer Fire Department.

Currently, the Department is funded largely by the city.

Measure B would have raised the fire tax amount to $12.50 a month for residential lots, $18.75 a month for commercial lots and $6.25 a month for vacant land.

Measure B was rejected by the citizens of Portola, and did not receive the needed two-thirds to pass.
