The National Weather Service in San Angelo announced this week that the storm that caused extensive damage in Richland Springs and San Saba County was not a tornado.

The Weather Service said its review of the storm last weekend indicated the "damage was consistent with straight-line winds."

The storm struck the Richland Springs area about 8:30pm Friday night with winds up to 85mph included softball-sized hail that killed livestock and caused extensive property damage. There were reports that almost all homes in Richland Springs were damaged by the storm.

The track of the storm was reported to be nine miles long and and one-and-a-half miles wide.
