5/5/2018 - Brady ISD Bond Fails, EDC Change Passes

In the May 5 Local Election, voters in the Brady Independent School District turned down a proposal for the District to issue $13.3 million in school bonds.
The vote was 349 against, with 294 voting for the bond issue.
Of the 643 votes cast in the School Bond election, 459 were cast during early voting.
The $13.3 million proposed bond was to be used for five facilities improvement projects in the District.
By a vote of 265 to 209, voters in the City of Brady approved a proposal to change the structure of the Brady Economic Development Corporation from a Type A to a Type B.
Also on the ballot for Brady voters was 15 proposed changes to the City Charter. Of the 15, 13 were approved by voters, while two were rejected.
Tuned down by voters was a proposal to increase the pay of the mayor and members of the City Council. However, voters did approve a changing Council terms from three to four years each.
Also turned down was a proposal to change the deadline for the City Manager providing a report on non-designated funds from 30 to 60 days.
